May’s Employee Spotlight – Tom Carnevale
This month’s employee spotlight is Tom Carnevale. Tom is the Data Analyst for Agri-Service. He is a spreadsheet genius and a valued member of our team. Take a moment to learn a little more about Tom.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work? First is always coffee. Second is the wonderful people I get to work with at Agri-Service. We have one of the friendliest workplaces I’ve been a part of, and I get to work with a wide variety of fantastic people from all our locations.
What do you do at our company? I am our Data Analyst, which means I build and maintain a lot of reports for our company mainly in Excel and Power BI. If you’ve ever opened an excel file that’s 100,000 rows and 40 columns wide, that’s the kind of thing I work with every day!
What has been your favorite project so far? I’ve worked on a wide variety of projects, many of which have been my favorite. If I had to pick one it would be the dashboard I built to show how much inventory we have on order, how much we have pre-sold and when it will be landing at each of our locations.
Who inspires you? I’ve always been inspired by people that do everyday jobs in an extraordinary manner. I see this in many schoolteachers, of which my wife is one, who work tirelessly behind the scenes even during a pandemic to improve the next generation.
What are you favorite indoor/outdoor activities? My favorite outdoor activity is going on a hike, especially in the beautiful national parks we have here in the PNW. When forced indoors, I enjoy listening to books on Blinkist, which gets long audio books and summarizes them into 20-minute clips you can listen to.
