April Employee Spotlight – Shayne Halford
Our April Employee Spotlight is Shayne Halford. Shayne is a valued member of our Vantage-Northwest team as a GPS Technician out of our Burley location.
What do you do at our company? I am the technology specialist in the eastern Idaho territory. I work on diagnosing issues with the technology that we sell. I also do the installs of this same technology whether that be a GPS steering system with Trimble or a planter with precision planting. I have also enjoyed helping with some of the Fendt demos in my area.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work? I love the challenge that comes with each and every day in my position. There are many times where I am doing something that I have never done before. The challenge of learning these new things and helping out the customer brings great joy to me. Knowing the service I am providing with the technology is not only making the customer have a more comfortable more efficient day, but it is also making them money as well.
What has been your favorite project so far? I think my favorite project that I have done so far is a job that I did down in Delta, Utah. The customer had built a little sprayer on the back of a Ford F350 and I was able to go down and install a system on his Ford pickup truck. We were able to steer the truck as well as control the product coming out of his sprayer.
What are your favorite indoor/outdoor activities? Some of my favorite things to do are go fishing, shoot guns, and pretty much anything that gets me outdoors, as long as the weather is not too cold. I also enjoy playing sports such as basketball and football.
What would you do for a career if you weren’t doing this? I think the career that I would like to do if I was not doing this job would have to be something with the Fish and Game. I would love to be in a position where I am helping to make sure that the fish populations around the state stay where they need to be so that fishing is a good past time for years to come. I would also not mind being a firearm tester. Getting paid to shoot guns seems like the life.
