Golf Fore Good in Pasco Raises Money for Second Harvest Food Bank
This week, the Agri-Service team in Pasco, Washington put together their annual golf charity event, Golf Fore Good, at Sun Willows to help raise funds for the local food bank, Second Harvest. Despite the hot weather, our teams showed up to help feed the community.
Several teams took part in the best ball scramble, along with the longest drive, closest to the pin, and longest putt to win some great prizes. Our biggest prize by far was the Massey Ferguson GC1723 compact tractor, which was up for grabs if you could get a hole-in-one at hole 7. Many tried but none prevailed. Better luck next year!
It was incredibly meaningful for us to see so many members of our team, along with several colleagues, customers, and members of the community come together in the name of charity and golf to help us make a real difference for those living with food insecurity in the Tri-Cities. Together, our participating teams, sponsors, and Agri-Service were able to raise a substantial sum to be directly donated to Second Harvest.
What is Second Harvest Food Bank?
Agri-Service is passionate about supporting and investing back into our community as devotedly as they support us. The Pasco team did an excellent job finding an organization that not only directly improves the lives of people, children, and families in the Tri-Cities, but is directly tied to our industry.
Second Harvest Food Bank knows that there is not a “one size fits all” solution to food insecurity. Located in an area surrounded by high-quality farms, they can directly source delicious and nutritious food from the region. Through programs like feeding kids first, mobile markets, nutrition education, and their hunger relief network, patrons are able to access farm-fresh produce.
Non-profits like Second Harvest are increasingly important when you consider the local data on food insecurity. Within Benton and Franklin counties, 1 in 10 people are food insecure. Even further, 1 in 6 children are food insecure in Benton County and 1 in 5 children in Franklin County.
With the increasing rate of food and cost of living prices, many families, children, and individuals struggle to afford consistent meals. Thanks to the farms that work with Second Harvest, less food is wasted and is instead distributed to the community.
Thank You Golf Fore Good Sponsors
We want to extend a special shoutout to our event sponsors, Western States Cat, Staheli West, Precision Planting, and AGCO for stepping up to help us raise additional funds for Second Harvest Food Bank. Lastly, thank you to Sun Willows Golf Course for allowing us to host another great event, keeping us well-fed and never thirsty.
